“Homecoming Vinyl Release Party”, at White Eagle Saloon - Portland, Oregon
On Friday, April 29th 2016, Award Winning Artist & Composer Paul Trubachik will host Portland music fans to a “Homecoming Vinyl Release Party” at the White Eagle Saloon for Los Angeles based guitarist, songwriter, and recording artist FERGHEART to celebrate the release of a debut 7” vinyl record and his first concert in Portland in over 10 years.
The Oregon countryside and his dad’s old Yamaha guitar have morphed into the twenty-four-seven bustle of Los Angeles and a well-loved 1956 Gibson L-50. The product of songwriter Craig D. Ferguson, FERGHEART presents a sound of Modern Folk and Rhythm & Blues influenced by deep roots in jazz, bluegrass, soul, country and early rock n' roll music. His debut 7" vinyl release and it's title track "My Retro Weekend" placed in the Top 20 in 2015 The Great American Song Contest, and received honorable mention in the 2015 West Coast Songwriter’s Group contest.
Performing songs from his 2013 debut record “All Animals Are Sad After Sex”, Paul Trubachik’s band will feature acclaimed Portland jazz pianist Dan Gaynor, and drummer Dave Coniglio from 1939 Ensemble. Paul’s work has been featured in film, web media, fundraisers, and national radio and television campaigns. His work in advertising has been continually recognized with back-to-back Telly awards for best music and use of music in advertising. Paul’s film work includes the feature documentary, Puppet, which has screened all over the country, broadcast nationwide, and was selected to screen at the Brooklyn Academy of Music Cinematek. Paul has provided music for Obama For America 08/12, Human Rights First, The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, The Ad Council, and numerous progressive causes around the country.

This Sunday September 6, 2015 I'll be performing at the Marin County Mart in Larkspur, Ca from 12:30-2:30pm. If you're in the area please join me for a concert of "folkish" music. I'll be playing with two other amazing musicians; Bud Dillard on mandolin and Ben Thomas on the upright bass. We'll be playing a fun collection of American folk, blues, bluegrass, and maybe a few originals thrown in. I'll also be passing out "My Retro Weekend" free download cards.

This Sunday July 12th, 2015 - Get your veggies on! I'll be performing two sets with one LA's finest fiddlers Jesse Olema at The Old Pasadena Farmer's Market. We'll be playing some original tunes including My Retro Weekend and Postmodern Farmer. Maybe Jesse will even sing a few of his tunes? Maybe he'll sing Big Texas Women if you ask nicely! FERGHEART on “Live at Lockett’s” YouTube Concert Series
Live at Lockett’s intimate concert series on YouTube captures the Folk and Americana singer/songwriter FERGHEART in a time of reflection. Recorded just ten days after his Mother’s passing, “Throw A Rose In The Ocean” is a song about the memory of a day with his Mother when she had to say goodbye to her parents. “My Mother and family took a ferry into the Puget Sound from West Seattle where my Mom was born. As she threw two roses over the edge of the ship, she waved and said, ‘goodbye Mom and Dad’. I was so incredibly moved by that gesture that I knew there was a song in that story somewhere.” With a song started but left unfinished, it wasn’t until he had to prepare to say goodbye to his Mom, after her battle with cancer, that he was able to finish.
Filmed in cinematographer Christopher Lockett’s living room with one camera, one lens, no zooms, no cuts, not even a microphone in frame. Just a lone shotgun mic overhead in a c-stand. The first season features 23 performers from Los Angeles’ eclectic roots music and poetry scenes. 3 songs or poems each. Each a standalone video. The performers are all rooted in a tradition, but aren’t bound by it. A different artist will be featured each week. No money exchanged hands, just handshakes. “This is a homegrown music community thing,” Lockett says.
A 2014 finalist in The Great American Song Contest and 3rd place winner in the Austin Songwriters Group Song Contest, FERGHEART represents the musician's version of the American Dream. The Oregon countryside and his dad’s old Yamaha guitar have morphed into the twenty-four-seven bustle of Los Angeles and a well-loved 1956 Gibson L-50. He takes ideas from the city and pits them against the typical middle-American mindset. And while he notes Nick Lowe, Ryan Adams, and John Prine as main influences, he's added his own brand of lyrical sensibility to a stripped-down folk sound to travel back in time in order to slow down.
